Argonfunk's History

Super Precise Cooking since 2022

Welcome to my homepage!

In late 2022, we have opened up the Argonfunk channel for the public creation of quality era-accurate
SPC700 covers which are available to be listened in your chiptune player of choice
and are open sourced for readability and hardware injection within SNES homebrews.

Prior to this channel, I have been working as one of the sound designers and directors of the now defunct
Coinship forums, learning a ton of useful techniques for hardware chiptuning and sound design along the way,
which have been relied on for years while it lasted. Some of our early contributions outside of the
private division include complete SPC rips of story-driven adventures and entertainment previously unheard of.

During this process, we collected enough resources to be able to create our very own SNES soundtracks,
starting off with a wide variety of song covers before developing our own in-house musical style of
rhythmic funk with great modulation, chorded intervals and digital instruments with FM synthesis,
samplers, and ancient recordings throughout the early '90s as the hardware grows on.

The brand name "Argonfunk" is a portmanteau of our parent identity, ending with the fittingly
musical term of funk and extending the first two letters into the Argon element
for our interest of chemistry and research, resulting into easier searchability.

In the year 2023, we have started writing wholly original music for SNES games, starting with Super Golf Launcher,
Chocolane, SubRising and eventually branching into non-hardware series like Criminal Records 2
with great success while making the most of the affordable SPC700 featureset.

Throughout the year, our YouTube channel has reached 100.000 unique views across the entire catalogue of SPC700 compatible chiptunes.

We're still looking into new ways of expanding our musical capabilites into other areas and having more methods of
transparent communication and online polls, starting off with X and then continuing on Discord groups.
